As always searching for new ways to draw interest I came across an artist from Oceanside, Cali. He goes by Chor Boogie and if the art doesn't speak for itself the name would, lol...But what amazes me most about his art work is that its down with spray paint. The use of disparate elements has been used so much over the years it is a visual cliché. There is no introspection or personal connection with the paint what comes out of the can is what you get. There is no progression of form and the development of color even commercial artists that use the air brush get to mix their own colors. Shock words and images are anathema to real thoughts and feelings. Hip hop is to jazz as a garbage dump is to a garden. Areas of the panting have geometric shapes filling areas that needed to be filled,so the simplest solution was chosen. Do a series of paintings that are personal to you and life and you may paint something worth looking at, art is a process not a product.
